IRC [15:52] *** iharding joined the chat.
IRC [15:53] <iharding> Hello!
IRC [15:55] <Dossy> hi, Ian.
IRC [16:00] <iharding> Hi! Hey, why is "verbose" always true?
IRC [16:01] <iharding> I tried 0, off, false even deleting the verbose line on my pool config...
IRC [16:01] <iharding> Still, handle->verbose == 1
IRC [16:08] <iharding> Oops, gotta go. They need me to turn this thing off.
IRC [16:08] *** iharding parted the chat.
IRC [16:23] <Dossy> I wonder why Ian can't stay on IRC. Heh.
IRC [16:24] <Dossy> What, they have only one computer there or something? Heh.
IRC [16:25] <holycow> that funny
IRC [16:25] <holycow> :)
IRC [16:26] <Dossy> ...
IRC [16:54] *** holycow parted the chat.
IRC [17:34] *** holycow joined the chat.
IRC [19:57] *** holycow parted the chat.
IRC [22:30] *** iharding joined the chat.
IRC [22:31] <iharding> Ha ha. Very funny. As a matter of fact, we do only have one computer,
IRC [22:31] <iharding> and it is powered by a bicycle generator. My legs are tired.
IRC [22:33] <Dossy> :)
IRC [22:33] <Dossy> haha.
IRC [22:33] <Dossy> well, I'm about to go to bed ...
IRC [22:34] <iharding> What? It's only 7:30!
IRC [22:35] <Dossy> it's 10:30pm US/Eastern.
IRC [22:35] <iharding> It's probably noon in Denmark
IRC [22:35] <Dossy> http://conferences.oreillynet.com/os2005/ -- no Tcl (and obviously, no AOLserver) representation at OSCON 2005. Pity.
IRC [22:36] <iharding> Tcl gets no respect, but its feelings aren't hurt.
IRC [22:36] <Dossy> I'd try to attend but alas, I already have vacation planned for August 6th-13th ...
IRC [22:36] <iharding> So what is up with verbose? Am I doing it wrong? I know I'm tweaking the right config...
IRC [22:36] <Dossy> Are you /sure/ ?
IRC [22:36] <Dossy> ns_db verbose poolname 0 ?
IRC [22:37] <iharding> What's that?
IRC [22:37] <Dossy> it's a command. issue it from the control port?
IRC [22:37] <iharding> OK, I just used a log statement...
IRC [22:38] <Dossy> ?
IRC [22:41] <iharding> OK, so I got a db handle, did ns_db verbose $db 0, and it returned 0
IRC [22:42] <iharding> ns_db verbose "fwpool" 0 returned an error. It seems to want a handle not a pool name.
IRC [22:45] <Dossy> right.
IRC [22:45] <Dossy> my bad.
IRC [22:45] <iharding> So that _sets_ it to 0?
IRC [22:46] <Dossy> yes.
IRC [22:47] <iharding> I just can't seem to get the config to take. 2 different machines, different OS, different versions of AOLServer...
IRC [22:47] <iharding> I must be doing something stupid.
IRC [22:47] <Dossy> OK, you can't do it from control port.
IRC [22:47] <Dossy> if it needs a db handle, then you need to do it in your code after doing the ns_db gethandle.
IRC [22:48] <Dossy> of course, if in your pool config you do: ns_param verbose 0
IRC [22:48] <Dossy> it should set that. the [ns_db verbose $dbId 0] is to override that for debugging
IRC [22:48] <iharding> That's the bit that's not working.
IRC [22:49] <iharding> I noticed I was using "no" and thought that was it, so I tried "false" and "0" with the same result. Blah.
IRC [22:49] <Dossy> let me see your config. you're definitely doing something wrong.
IRC [22:50] <iharding> It's wierd, because all the other stuff seems to work. I will let you go to bed and pick this up again tomorrow.
IRC [22:50] <iharding> Someone else needs to use the computer;^)
IRC [22:51] <Dossy> *HAHAHA*
IRC [22:51] <Dossy> Are you for real?
IRC [22:51] <iharding> No.
IRC [22:51] <Dossy> OK. Just email me your config .tcl
IRC [22:51] <iharding> Will do.
IRC [22:52] <iharding> Bye!
IRC [22:52] *** iharding parted the chat.
IRC [22:59] <Dossy> Guess he wasn't joking about that "only one computer" thing. :)
