IRC [13:31] *** holycow parted the chat.
IRC [13:31] <holycow> there we go
IRC [13:31] <holycow> hey michaels_work
IRC [13:31] *** veryfunny joined the chat.
IRC [13:32] <michaels_work> how's it going holycow?
IRC [13:32] <holycow> not too bad, way overworked right now but thats hardly something to complain about
IRC [13:32] <holycow> your self?
IRC [13:33] <holycow> watcha doin workin today?
IRC [13:33] <michaels_work> office was let go... just tidying up a few things then heading out
IRC [13:34] <holycow> let go as in ... fired or let go as in everyones home?
IRC [13:34] <michaels_work> just (re) launched the site we've been working on last night. happy about that :)
IRC [13:34] <michaels_work> ha
IRC [13:34] <michaels_work> no, let go early
IRC [13:34] <holycow> hehe
IRC [13:34] <holycow> let go just brings up certain images of pink slips to me!
IRC [13:34] <holycow> hehehe
IRC [13:34] <holycow> ah yeah cool!
IRC [13:35] <holycow> url?
IRC [13:35] <michaels_work> www.donahue.umassp.edu
IRC [13:36] <holycow> oh shit
IRC [13:36] <holycow> whoa
IRC [13:36] <holycow> oh that looks absolutely amazing
IRC [13:36] <holycow> congratulations michaels_work
IRC [13:36] <michaels_work> thanks. i'll pass that along to our designer :)
IRC [13:36] <holycow> oh boy and fast too
IRC [13:37] <holycow> all of this uses your work on the cms?
IRC [13:37] <michaels_work> *nod*
IRC [13:37] <holycow> oh *drool*
IRC [13:37] <holycow> okay i gotta say, best site ever i've seen done with oacs
IRC [13:37] <holycow> looking i mean to be specific
IRC [13:37] <michaels_work> alright!
IRC [13:37] <holycow> but easy to navigate too
IRC [13:37] <holycow> this has to go on our front page
IRC [13:38] <holycow> fuck i gotta talk to dave about getting editing access to that page
IRC [13:38] <michaels_work> you mean the news items?
IRC [13:38] <michaels_work> or the oacs sites?
IRC [13:38] <holycow> news would be good but i would like to showcase this on the front page
IRC [13:38] <michaels_work> cool
IRC [13:39] <holycow> the blurb on the main sectio nabout benefits of oacs is great, but having a show case just above that that goes 'hey look!' would be great
IRC [13:39] <holycow> this is such a great example
IRC [13:39] <michaels_work> i'd love to be able to say "like what you see? download cms and have a look"
IRC [13:39] <michaels_work> not quite there yet though
IRC [13:39] <holycow> thats the idea yep
IRC [13:39] <holycow> i gotta get through the hump of work relates shit here first
IRC [13:39] <michaels_work> now that the site's up, i hope to have some time to clean it up and cut a release
IRC [13:39] <holycow> and start really helping out oacs
IRC [13:40] <holycow> we are approaching a turn in th eproject soon, with xowiki and work like this around
IRC [13:40] <michaels_work> i hope
IRC [13:40] <holycow> i have some ideas on how to really get people itnerested in oacs
IRC [13:40] <holycow> but thats another discussion
IRC [13:40] <holycow> also i see $$'s with oacs here too so :)
IRC [13:40] <holycow> all mutually beneficial of course
IRC [13:40] <michaels_work> yup
IRC [13:41] <holycow> god this is slick
IRC [13:41] <holycow> *bookmark*
IRC [13:41] <holycow> this goes in my 'good looking sites' folder
IRC [13:41] <holycow> big big kudos to your designer
IRC [13:41] <michaels_work> heh
IRC [13:41] <holycow> oh just one comment
IRC [13:41] <michaels_work> next piece is hooking up search
IRC [13:41] <michaels_work> sure
IRC [13:41] <holycow> you might consider changing the mailto: to a aform based approach
IRC [13:42] <holycow> not everyone has a local client available, especially from public terminals
IRC [13:42] <michaels_work> hmm
IRC [13:42] <holycow> in the email linky i mean
IRC [13:42] <michaels_work> yeah, that makes a lot of sense
IRC [13:42] <holycow> just a thought
IRC [13:42] <michaels_work> i will add it to our master task list. thanks!
IRC [13:43] <holycow> no prob :)
IRC [13:43] <holycow> infact, i will use this site as an example for our staff here
IRC [13:43] <holycow> on how to setup the menuing and subsections
IRC [13:43] <holycow> and how to think about content and layout
IRC [13:43] <holycow> thats awesome, this will be our training reference site if you don't mind :)
IRC [13:43] <holycow> i've been looking for one that really had a nice balance of look and feel to content
IRC [13:44] <michaels_work> very cool.
IRC [13:44] <holycow> oh i have a neato ff extension to show you
IRC [13:45] <holycow> https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1568
IRC [13:45] <holycow> when you do the f11 fullscreen deal this gives you evenmore room in the window
IRC [13:45] <holycow> so if you have one moni with a browser, makes it very nice with ff to just have it dedicated fullscreen to web based apps/content
IRC [13:45] <holycow> try it sometime
IRC [13:50] <michaels_work> nice
IRC [13:50] <michaels_work> no time like the present :)
IRC [13:50] <holycow> *ding*
IRC [13:50] <holycow> :)
IRC [13:50] <michaels_work> i rarely use full screen but i might have to try it more often now
IRC [13:51] <holycow> me too i just found it, and its a bit of a revelation with something like ff and tabs
IRC [13:51] <holycow> it makes it feel like a web app is 'an app on my system' kinda sorta
IRC [13:51] <holycow> ctrl/b opens up bookmarks
IRC [13:51] <holycow> and closes
IRC [13:52] <holycow> starts to make it kinda like using emacs or something
IRC [14:42] *** daguz parted the chat.
IRC [14:55] *** michaels_work parted the chat.
IRC [18:00] *** jim joined the chat.
IRC [18:00] <jim> hi... Dossy: ayh?
IRC [18:02] <Dossy> for a few more minutes, what's up
IRC [18:25] *** partymola joined the chat.
IRC [18:32] <jim> heya, am I too late? just wondering what to do before doing a release on nspostgres
IRC [18:33] <jim> maybe we get partymola to build it again and see if he can get it going
IRC [18:33] <partymola> hi
IRC [18:33] <partymola> gimme a sec
IRC [18:33] <partymola> i just got home from work
IRC [18:33] <partymola> i gotta cook dinner lol
IRC [18:33] <partymola> 0.35 am dinner lol
IRC [18:34] <jim> doesn't have to be immediately now now now n-o-w at all
IRC [18:34] <jim> it could be... tomorrow or next week if you're busy
IRC [18:36] <Dossy> jim: release? change log notes, tag the thing, send out an announcement?
IRC [18:36] <jim> well ok :) this is your project... I just want to make sure you think it's ready
IRC [18:37] <Dossy> ok, i'm heading off to church now. ttyl.
IRC [18:37] <jim> ok have fun :)
IRC [18:37] <Dossy> well, has anyone else given the CVS nspostgres a whack to agree that it's okay?
IRC [18:37] <jim> not that I know of
IRC [18:37] <Dossy> well, i guess you could tag and release it, and if someone says they're having problems, deal with it then
IRC [18:37] <jim> that's part of what worries me
IRC [18:38] <jim> ok I'll figure something out for getting it tested sufficiently
IRC [18:38] <Dossy> perhaps write something out to the aolserver list, saying "if you use nspostgres, please grab a fresh copy from CVS HEAD and tell me if you have any problems with it"
IRC [18:38] <jim> ok
IRC [18:38] <Dossy> add some notes about what changes you've made since the last release ... to give folks stuff to specifically test/look out for
IRC [18:38] <Dossy> then, let it simmer for a week
IRC [18:38] <Dossy> if nobody comes to you screaming, then, tag and release :)
IRC [18:39] <jim> so, I seee... release them if they -don't- scream...
IRC [18:39] <jim> ok, good enough :)
IRC [18:40] <Dossy> yup.
IRC [19:46] *** jim parted the chat.
IRC [19:50] *** holycow parted the chat.
IRC [23:08] *** partymola parted the chat.
