Logging in to AMU

The slow way to log in to AMU (American Military University):(Edit)

  1. Go to http://amu.apus.edu/
  2. Click on "Current Students"
  3. Enter the Student ID/Password at the Student Login prompt
  4. Note the lack of "Remember me" option
  5. Click the "Enter Classes" button at the left
  6. Click an "Enter Class Room" button. Note: Clicking any particular one only brings you to the "Educator Course Manager", where you still have to select the class again. Beware, though, if you click one that hasn't opened yet, it will reject you back to the start.
  7. Click "Enter course" on the class you want. Note that the "Course Name" and "Course ID" are, annoyingly, identical and cryptic.
  8. Now Click on the Discussion Board, Assignments, etc.

If you value mouse button longevity, as I do, then try this:

Faster:(Edit)

Bookmark a page inside the class (I prefer the Discussion Board, because it ends up getting visited more than the others. Another good idea is to bookmark several places).

I experienced some weirdness the most recent time I did this, but after I fiddled with the bookmark (delete/re-add) it is now working perfectly.

Basically the trick is that when you bookmark a page inside the class, it takes you to a screen that remembers your username/password (unlike the main homepage). After you type it in one time from now on all you have to do is click the "Sign In" button. This brings you to the Educator Course menu the first time you use it during that session, so you can either click the class button like normal or re-click your bookmark to get back in.
