AIM [10:11] <POLearyUK> hey dossy- info commands dom* does show me lots of tdom stuff
AIM [10:44] <RSeeger00> If you're not in the middle of working on a dom object, then it sounds like some code isn't cleaning up after itself
IRC [11:34] <Dossy> polearyuk: yeah, it will ...
AIM [11:39] <POLearyUK> i'm just proving to a developer that they're not cleaning up all dom objects
IRC [11:58] <Dossy> hmmm

IRC [12:43] <Dossy> guess i'll convert the wiki docs to manpage format today.
AIM [12:47] <RSeeger00> Bah, convert them to doctools format, so you can generate nroff or html off them
IRC [12:50] <Dossy> `or, I convert to nroff, and I can generate html from that.

AIM [13:26] *** POLearyUK joined the chat.
IRC [15:02] <Dossy> ...
AIM [15:21] <RSeeger00> Any idea how long it takes the sourceforge web-based cvs server to reflect changes to the actual repository?
IRC [15:23] <leff> can take up to 24 hours.
AIM [15:23] <RSeeger00> Bleh... thanks
IRC [15:38] <Dossy> ugh. sourceforge vhost farm is SLOW
IRC [15:38] * Dossy sighs
IRC [16:05] *** cd34 joined the chat.

IRC [16:22] *** cd34 parted the chat.
IRC [16:39] <Dossy> ok, man pages are evolving ...
IRC [17:19] <frodoroot> Dossy: CONST84??
IRC [17:20] *** jader joined the chat.
IRC [17:28] <Dossy> frodoroot: yeah.
IRC [17:29] <frodoroot> did you see my response
IRC [17:29] <frodoroot> ?
IRC [17:30] <Dossy> reading it now
IRC [17:31] <Dossy> OK
IRC [17:31] <Dossy> your install is screwed up
IRC [17:31] <frodoroot> sheesh
IRC [17:31] <frodoroot> I checked out aolserver stable just like you wrote in the previous email
IRC [17:32] <frodoroot> oh you mean I have to install tcl and not just try to link to tcls source
IRC [17:32] <Dossy> $ head -7 config.status | tail -1
IRC [17:32] <Dossy> first, lets see that :)
IRC [17:33] <frodoroot> just a sec
IRC [17:34] *** NatetheGr8 joined the chat.
IRC [17:34] <NatetheGr8> # ./configure --with-tcl=/sm/src/aolserverCVS/tcl8.4.6/unix/
IRC [17:34] <NatetheGr8> as you can see it's not installed in the normal place
IRC [17:37] <Dossy> $ grep TCL_INCLUDE_SPEC /sm/src/aolserverCVS/tcl8.4.6/unix/tclConfig.sh
IRC [17:37] <Dossy> please?
IRC [17:37] <frodoroot> roger that
IRC [17:37] <NatetheGr8> TCL_INCLUDE_SPEC='-I/usr/local/include'
IRC [17:39] <Dossy> Um, Hmm.
IRC [17:40] <Dossy> grep "define CONST84" /usr/local/include/tcl8.4/*.h | grep -v RETURN
IRC [17:40] <frodoroot> -I/sm/src/aolserverCVS/tcl8.4.6/..... ?
IRC [17:41] <frodoroot> ok
IRC [17:41] <Dossy> the tcl8.4 you have installed in /usr/local/include isn't tcl8.4.6, probably
IRC [17:41] <frodoroot> yes
IRC [17:41] <Dossy> it probably isn't even tcl 8.4...
IRC [17:41] <frodoroot> probably
IRC [17:41] <Dossy> grep "define CONST84" /usr/local/include/tcl*.h | grep -v RETURN
IRC [17:42] <Dossy> so, what you neeed to do is build tcl with --prefix=/sm/src/aolserverCVS/tcl8.4.6/installed or something
IRC [17:42] <Dossy> and configure aolserver --with-tcl=/sm/src/aolserverCVS/tcl8.4.6/installed
IRC [17:42] <Dossy> but after yuo build tcl, you must remember to "make install"
IRC [17:42] <Dossy> tcl thinks it's going to be installed into /usr/local, so tclConfig.sh points there
IRC [17:43] <Dossy> and therefore aolserver's configure script thinks "oh, I'll use the tcl stuff in /usr/local" which isn't waht you want to build with
IRC [17:45] <Dossy> you still there?
IRC [17:46] <frodoroot> yeah
IRC [17:46] <frodoroot> ok I see the light
IRC [17:58] <frodoroot> thanks
IRC [18:01] * leff is away: home
