IRC [10:32] <jcollins> nice and chatty in hea
IRC [10:37] <Dossy> Heh.
IRC [10:38] <Dossy> Nobody responded to the "contributor agreement" thread on the mailing list. Poo.
IRC [10:39] <jcollins> i suppose not
IRC [10:43] <jcollins> interviewing people sucks
IRC [10:43] <jcollins> or rather picking the one to hire sucks
IRC [10:44] <Dossy> nah
IRC [10:44] <Dossy> It's good fun, if you're good at it.
IRC [10:45] <jcollins> I guess we just haven't had any truely awesome people yet. :)
IRC [10:46] <Dossy> Ah, that's a different problem. :-)
IRC [10:47] <jcollins> One guy put that he had 10yrs of experience in different things like Assembly but it turns out he was only 24 yrs old so I wonder about how valuable that experience is.
IRC [10:50] <jcollins> re: contrib agreement - how many people have contributed to AOLserver?
IRC [10:51] <Dossy> not sure - outside of AOL? probably less than 20.
IRC [10:51] <Dossy> Hey, when I was 18 I already had 6 years of C experience. :P
IRC [10:51] <Dossy> And I was able to bill (back then) $100/hr. This was ~1990.
IRC [10:52] <Dossy> I'd run home from 7th grade to hack on code until 2am, then wake up at 6am to do my homework for the next day. :P
IRC [10:53] <jcollins> yeah, something tells me his experience wasn't as valuable
IRC [10:53] <jcollins> $100/hr in 1990 that must've been nice
IRC [10:54] <Dossy> Being 13 years old? You bet.
IRC [10:54] <Dossy> Totally spoiled me rotten in some ways.
IRC [10:54] <Dossy> Like, not being able to relate to my peers who were making $6/hr at a local deli, etc.
IRC [10:54] <jcollins> wait you were 13 in 1990 making $100/hr /??? how do you pull that off?
IRC [10:55] <Dossy> jcollins: Knew people who needed contract programming done. It wasn't steady 40-hr a week kind of work. It was more like 5-10 hours every couple of weeks.
IRC [10:56] <jcollins> yeah but still
IRC [10:56] <Dossy> They knew that I did good work, got it done fast, and didn't get paid benefits/etc. -- if they wanted to hire contractors/temps, it'd cost WAY more.
IRC [10:57] <jcollins> how old are you now dossy?
IRC [10:57] <Dossy> God, umm ... 27/
IRC [10:57] <Dossy> I know, a baby. :-)
IRC [10:57] <Dossy> And I have two kids -- heh.
IRC [10:57] <jcollins> hey, i'm just 27 myself
IRC [10:57] <Dossy> Heh, eerie.
IRC [10:57] <jcollins> and no kids so i'm *REALLY* a kid
IRC [10:57] <jcollins> :)
IRC [10:58] <Dossy> :-)
IRC [10:58] <Dossy> I grew up really fast. That's what I always say.

IRC [18:08] <AndyPiskorski> Heh Dossy, where do I find the info on how to use your new command-line Windows build process?
IRC [18:11] <AndyPiskorski> Oh, it's only on the Head, found it.
IRC [18:27] *** zoro2 joined the chat.
IRC [18:31] <Dossy> yeah, only on HEAD.
IRC [18:32] <Dossy> can be used with one minor tweak to build 4.0
IRC [18:32] <Dossy> just delete nsd/limits.o and nsd/pools.o
IRC [18:32] <Dossy> since those are only in 4.1
IRC [18:32] <AndyPiskorski> Has anybody built nsopenssl with it?
IRC [18:32] <Dossy> um, no
IRC [18:32] <Dossy> heh
IRC [18:34] <AndyPiskorski> Jamie's old Windows module status page lists nsopenssl on Windows as working, but there are no win32 build files for it at all in CVS, AFAICT.
IRC [18:34] <AndyPiskorski> So I guess I'll try the new build.tcl script.
IRC [18:34] <Dossy> heh
IRC [18:34] <Dossy> you can prolly hack it up
IRC [18:34] <Dossy> but it's not pretty
IRC [18:34] <Dossy> it's VERY rogh
IRC [18:34] <Dossy> er rough
IRC [18:35] <AndyPiskorski> Hm, has anyone used it to compile any loadable modules yet, or just the core?
IRC [18:54] <Dossy> just the core
IRC [18:57] <Dossy> puzzling as to why my patch worked and your attempt to patch didn't --
IRC [18:58] <AndyPiskorski> I was tired and was doing it quickly, I probably left something out.
IRC [18:59] <Dossy> Cool.
IRC [18:59] <Dossy> i'm about to leave the office -- anyone need anything before I head out?
IRC [19:00] <AndyPiskorski> Yeah, a complete and robust multi-platform build system, you have 5 minutes or so right? ;)
IRC [19:00] <AndyPiskorski> [aka, no, not me.]
IRC [19:09] <Dossy> :)
IRC [19:33] *** zoro2 parted the chat.
IRC [21:33] *** rubick parted the chat.
