IRC [17:56] <bartt> Dossy: What is the recommended tag for nsopenssl again?
IRC [18:14] <bartt> Ah, v3_0beta23
IRC [20:02] *** rubick parted the chat.
IRC [21:05] <jhavard> life in the channel?
IRC [21:48] <Dossy> None, whatsoever.
IRC [21:48] <Dossy> bartt: v3_0beta23, yes.
IRC [21:48] <Dossy> tarball up at sourceforge in files section.
IRC [21:52] <jhavard> dossy, if you're still around, is there any way to run something when a database connection is brought up?
IRC [21:54] <jhavard> say, to setup some prepared queries and such?
IRC [22:00] <Dossy> brought up?
IRC [22:00] <Dossy> what do you mean "brought up"?
IRC [22:01] <Dossy> when you start aolserver, you mean?
IRC [22:02] <jhavard> whenever nsd connects to a database.
IRC [22:07] <Dossy> oh.
IRC [22:07] <Dossy> no, there's no hook or anything for that
IRC [22:11] <jhavard> bummer. It'd be neat to setup several prepared queries and other setup things, like configuring date format or something.
IRC [22:11] <jhavard> Of course, there's no guarantee any of it won't get changed during the lifetime of the connection
IRC [22:12] <jhavard> (and atleast in postgresql, anything that's SETtable can be set on the database for defaults)
IRC [22:16] <jhavard> hrm. and prepared queries aren't reprepared if the particular plan name exists
IRC [22:16] <jhavard> That's just about as good.
IRC [22:18] <Dossy> jhavard: yeah, as connections are shared and re-used, any pre-use setup has to be done every time the handle is grabbed.
IRC [22:34] <jhavard> well, my thing was that these prepared statements would be common to practically every request.
IRC [22:35] *** brunom joined the chat.
IRC [23:00] <Dossy> ... hi bruno
IRC [23:15] <brunom> Hi Dossy
IRC [23:16] <brunom> Back later, going to get some plants for the new house
IRC [23:21] <martinh> that sounds a bit suspicious. . .
IRC [23:41] *** smileyface joined the chat.
IRC [23:54] <smileyface> who uses aol?
IRC [23:54] <smileyface> i mean aolserver?
IRC [23:54] <smileyface> which big company?
IRC [23:55] <martinh> aol?
IRC [23:56] <smileyface> cool
IRC [23:56] <smileyface> you guys aren't too impressed by php i guess?
IRC [23:57] <martinh> most of us aren't. . .
IRC [23:58] <smileyface> martin are you still using aolserver now days?
IRC [23:58] <martinh> it's good enough for small or simple sites, but I wouldn't use it for anything that expects huge amounts of serious load and enterprise grade management.
IRC [23:59] <martinh> yea. i use it and openacs on a number of sites.
IRC [23:59] <smileyface> sweet
