IRC [06:04] *** frankie joined the chat.
IRC [07:05] <jcdldn> frankie: you are the aolserver maintainer for debian?
IRC [07:05] <frankie> jcdldn: yes
IRC [07:06] <jcdldn> there was a bug for alpha which the guy who submitted it thought was blocking inclusion of aolserver in (sarge?)
IRC [07:06] <jcdldn> the next release anyway.
IRC [07:06] <jcdldn> Is that the case?
IRC [07:07] <jcdldn> http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?archive=no&bug=293079
IRC [07:08] <jcdldn> Would a 'grave' bug preclude inclusion in sarge and if so is this really a grave bug...
IRC [07:15] <jcdldn> frankie, you still thinking about it?
IRC [07:16] <frankie> jcdldn: no, just a bit busy currently, i hope in the incoming week-end
IRC [07:19] <jcdldn> ok, its more that I think on the aolserver side it;s not clear if this is a blocker for inclusion
IRC [07:19] <jcdldn> and I was hoping if you could clear that up,
IRC [07:20] <jcdldn> obviously if it;s a blocker then we should be able to get Dossy (and others) to focus and get it cleared up.
IRC [07:44] <Dossy> or, frankie could just patch it
IRC [07:44] <Dossy> for the debian build
IRC [07:44] <Dossy> until we (upstream) incorporate a fix
IRC [07:45] <Dossy> i think the right fix is just to take out that failing check
IRC [07:45] <Dossy> for the life of me I can't think of a case where sizeof(int) != sizeof(long) is a problem in our codebase.
IRC [07:45] <Dossy> however, maybe initially I'll change it to a warning from an error - but who'd ever care about the logged warning? :-)
IRC [08:08] <jcdldn> I just want to make sure that aolserver4 is in debian and I have been told it's not now.
IRC [08:11] <jcdldn> bbiab

IRC [09:06] *** frankie joined the chat.
IRC [11:09] <Dossy> of course!
IRC [11:09] <Dossy> oop. wrong window.
IRC [11:35] <Dossy> has anyone seen these "N users online" sites offering this service?
IRC [11:35] <Dossy> anyone with decent hosting and bandwidth want to build one of these things in aolserver? :)
IRC [12:10] *** frankie parted the chat.
IRC [12:26] <jhavard> define decent bandwidth?
IRC [12:38] <Dossy> dunno. it's all text-only so it doesn't need to be a lot
IRC [12:39] <Dossy> but low latency is important.
IRC [12:47] <jhavard> hrm, I don't really trust the power at my house that much, even with the UPS's.
IRC [12:50] <jhavard> My first thought was remote shared procedures, which stemmed from remote stored procedures
IRC [12:50] <jhavard> wrong window
IRC [13:10] <martinh> i bet if you ask shagster nicely and offer to send him beer he'll host it.
IRC [13:10] <martinh> he's already hosting uptime.
IRC [13:41] <Dossy> :)
IRC [13:41] <Dossy> still waiting to hear about hosting aolserver.com with him :
IRC [13:41] <Dossy> :-)
IRC [13:45] <martinh> you need to offer more beer!
IRC [13:47] <Dossy> haha!
IRC [13:47] <Dossy> indeed.
IRC [13:48] <Dossy> I should try and get out to OH.
IRC [13:48] <Dossy> Wait, no. What am I saying! You folks need to come out to NJ. :-)
IRC [13:51] <martinh> oh yea. . .there's a step up! ;->
IRC [13:55] *** tekbasse parted the chat.
IRC [13:55] <Dossy> :-)
IRC [14:32] <jhavard> Doesn't jersey stink?
IRC [14:46] <Dossy> jhavard: Only parts of it.
