IRC [08:16] <siddfinch> The world needs to watch more Sanford and Son.
IRC [08:47] <Dossy> heh.
IRC [09:40] <siddfinch> I am writing up some information about the logging parameters in AOLserver this morning (server log, pid file, access log).
IRC [09:42] <siddfinch> Trying to get a nice backlog of small informational articles to get ready for release, if anybody has any ideas please let me know.
IRC [09:49] <siddfinch> Hmm, I notice something that might want to be changed about the nspid behavior, Dossy you around?
IRC [10:02] <Dossy> yes.
IRC [10:02] <Dossy> What's up?
IRC [10:04] <siddfinch> For the server and access logs there is a check if the relative parameter is an absolute path, if not it prepend a path to it.
IRC [10:05] <siddfinch> But for nspid, that check isn't there. Is there a specific reason for that?
IRC [10:06] <siddfinch> I was thinking it would be better to have the access log, server log, and pid file all have the same logic for filenames.
IRC [10:09] <Dossy> Sure.
IRC [10:09] <Dossy> File it as a bug at SF. Submit a patch to fix it if you like. :-)
IRC [10:09] <Dossy> But at least file the bug -- thanks. :-)
IRC [10:10] <siddfinch> Before I wrote the patch I figured I was ask if there was a reason for it :->
IRC [10:10] <siddfinch> I'll file it as a bug, work on the patch this weekend.
IRC [10:11] <Dossy> OK. No, doesn't look like there's a good reason, no.
IRC [10:17] <siddfinch> Okay, submited 1161424, you can assign it to me if you like.
IRC [10:20] <Dossy> OK.
IRC [10:20] <Dossy> bringing it up now.
IRC [10:23] *** MzOzD parted the chat.
IRC [10:24] <Dossy> I'm really tempted to go through the SF project "Members" and remove the folks who are completely inactive. Heh.
IRC [10:25] <siddfinch> and if you have any ideas for short informational articles for AOLserver let me know. I'm going to shot for a goal of two or three a week for a while.
IRC [10:26] <Dossy> that'd be awesome.
IRC [10:26] <Dossy> yeah, I plan to blog an AOLserver-related entry every week if possible.
IRC [10:26] <Dossy> Here's the last one announcing nssqlite3: http://dossy.org/archives/000104.html
IRC [10:26] <siddfinch> I seen that one :->
IRC [10:27] <siddfinch> Haven't had a chance to try it though. I have to do some OpenACS related work for the next month or so.
IRC [10:28] <Dossy> that's cool.
IRC [10:31] <Dossy> Mat, bug is assigned to you.
IRC [10:53] *** bentbrian joined the chat.

IRC [11:06] <siddfinch> Okay, patch uploaded for somebody to look at.
IRC [11:06] <siddfinch> patch includes commenting goodness
IRC [11:08] <Dossy> Ooh, Mat - don't use status "Pending"
IRC [11:08] <Dossy> because after 7 days, it automatically goes to "Closed"
IRC [11:08] <siddfinch> Yea, I remember that .. switched it back to Open ...
IRC [11:08] <Dossy> (Yes, I know, SF's Bug Tracker isn't fantastic, but it's there.)
IRC [11:15] <Dossy> Ugh. The Cisco SERA VPN client is such a load of crap.
IRC [11:25] <siddfinch> I noticed bug 1088535 (formatting on cgi.html). Applied the patch, worked it a bit ... result it at http://mek.cc:8001/cgi.html
IRC [11:25] <siddfinch> I was going to commit the changes to cvs
IRC [11:27] <Dossy> moo?
IRC [11:28] <siddfinch> Mmm....cow ...
IRC [11:30] <martinh> i'm on a moo. . .
IRC [11:30] <Dossy> OK, assigned to you. Thanks.
IRC [11:30] * martinh . o O ( stupid police keep saying that's illegal. )
IRC [11:31] <Dossy> If you check in the change, I'll push it out to the project web.
IRC [11:31] <Dossy> before committing though, cna you make the <title> tag a little more relevant?
IRC [11:31] <Dossy> like <title>AOLserver CGI Interface Guide</title> ?
IRC [11:31] <siddfinch> Opps...okay :)
IRC [11:32] <siddfinch> done.
IRC [11:34] <Dossy> yay
IRC [11:34] <Dossy> you rock :-)

IRC [12:51] <Dossy> looks good.
IRC [12:51] <Dossy> ah
IRC [12:51] <Dossy> on second thought
IRC [12:51] <Dossy> + if {[string match "" $fqdn]} {
IRC [12:51] <Dossy> [string length $fqdn] == 0
IRC [12:52] <Dossy> and perhaps to avoid breaking backwards compatibility, instead of error, do:
IRC [12:52] <Dossy> set fqdn [ns_info hostname]
IRC [12:57] <siddfinch> Okay, let me fix it up a bit
IRC [13:00] <Dossy> OK.
IRC [13:05] <Dossy> can you upload the patch to the bug? oh - you can't - let me assign it to you?
IRC [13:10] <Dossy> It's assigned - can you upload the patch to the bug now?
IRC [13:11] <Dossy> grr, firefox is starting to hang my machine -- this is annoying.
IRC [13:13] <siddfinch> I'll upload in a bit, need to take a break and do some shots
IRC [13:39] <martinh> [to Dossy]: another friend just complained of the same thing. it was esd screwing up. but i bet you're not using gnome.
IRC [13:59] <siddfinch> Patch up for tcl/sendmail.tcl .. two patches for today ...
IRC [14:49] *** tektubby parted the chat.
IRC [14:56] <Dossy> ?
IRC [14:56] <Dossy> martinh: no this is on win32. I think it's the cisco SERA VPN client that's buggy.

IRC [15:41] <siddfinch> Okay, I think have have touched enough in the bug list today, I should probably try to get some other work done
IRC [15:49] <martinh> are you touching things again?
