IRC [12:19] *** holycow joined the chat.
IRC [12:34] <Dossy> Hm.
IRC [12:34] <Dossy> Hi, Fe1ix.
IRC [12:40] *** bartt joined the chat.
IRC [12:55] *** frankie parted the chat.
IRC [13:20] *** holycow parted the chat.
IRC [13:38] <Dossy> Man, how did I not know about S5 sooner? Heh.
IRC [14:00] *** holycow joined the chat.
IRC [14:03] <martinh> the man withheld the information from you to repress you and make you do his bidding. .
IRC [14:03] <Fe1ix> yo
IRC [14:07] <jcdldn> dossy: how well does nsjk2 work?
IRC [14:28] <Dossy> jcdldn: it works well enough
IRC [14:28] <Dossy> jcdldn: AOL is going to be using it.
IRC [14:29] <Dossy> why?
IRC [14:34] <jcdldn> we are thinking of using it
IRC [14:35] <jcdldn> for a couple things but if you don't use it in production somewhere within AOL I would be leary. Hearing that you will be makes me more confident it will work and be maintained.
IRC [14:36] <Dossy> without getting into trouble (disclosing too much) we'll be launching something that uses nsjk2 into production Real Soon Now(tm).
IRC [14:42] <jcdldn> cool. do you know if there are fixes on your side that have not found their way into cvs?
IRC [14:42] <jcdldn> (public cvs that is)
IRC [14:42] <Dossy> nope
IRC [14:42] <Dossy> what we're dev/qa'ing against is straight out of SF.
IRC [14:42] <Dossy> I think.
IRC [14:42] <Dossy> at least, to my knowledge at least.
IRC [14:43] <jcdldn> that would be excellent news...
IRC [14:43] <Dossy> however, AOL is going to be running Tomcat out-of-process, not utilizing the Java-Tcl bridge piece.
IRC [14:43] <jcdldn> ok.
IRC [14:43] <Dossy> yay, bloglines is broken.
IRC [14:43] <Dossy> sigh
IRC [14:45] <jcdldn> thanks
IRC [14:59] <siddfinch> [to Dossy]: how well does your nssession module work?
IRC [15:17] <Dossy> siddfinch: Not well, yet.
IRC [15:17] <Dossy> But it at least gives you an idea of where to start.
IRC [15:18] <Dossy> I've got two or three different session management implementations I'm working on.
IRC [15:18] <Dossy> Trying to make the One True Session Manager.
IRC [15:18] <Dossy> One is highly secure (continuously rolls session token to prevent replay attacks, etc.)
IRC [15:18] <Dossy> Going to combine that with the one which uses hashing to sign the token.
IRC [15:19] <Dossy> Along with the one that should support clustered session support.
IRC [15:19] <Dossy> Session management done RIGHT is no easy task. Session management done poorly is trivially simple.
IRC [15:31] <siddfinch> I am just looking for something a bit simple, basically to prove basic authentication for a site ... put I don't want to use ns perms
IRC [15:32] <jhavard> random number + cookie?
IRC [15:32] <siddfinch> that is probably what I'll end up doing, I just didn't feel like writing it :->
IRC [15:33] <jhavard> I've probably written that sort of thing a hundred times.
IRC [15:33] <Dossy> yeah, the "released" nssession just does random number + cookies.
IRC [15:34] <siddfinch> I'm looking at adding improved features to uptime, so I figured some basic authentication would be good
