IRC [05:45] <kiwi> Hello
IRC [05:45] <kiwi> is there anyone alive here ?
IRC [05:45] <kiwi> :p
IRC [05:56] <snutte> yes
IRC [05:56] <kiwi> good :)
IRC [05:57] <kiwi> I am a bit new to aolserver... and I'd like to port some of my mass virtual hosting system that I have made for Caudium
IRC [05:57] <kiwi> but I'd like to find how to make ldap request inside aolserver
IRC [05:57] <kiwi> any clues ?
IRC [05:58] <snutte> in tcl or c?
IRC [05:58] <kiwi> since I am not very good programmer, I'd rather like tcl
IRC [05:59] <snutte> http://panoptic.com/wiki/aolserver/Modules
IRC [05:59] <kiwi> I don't see (yet) any ldap module here
IRC [05:59] <snutte> here you can find nsldap
IRC [05:59] <kiwi> hu ?
IRC [05:59] <kiwi> I have to update my glasses then :p
IRC [05:59] <snutte> 1.1
IRC [06:00] <kiwi> yeah you are right
IRC [06:00] <kiwi> too mutch coffea
IRC [06:00] <kiwi> :)
IRC [06:00] <kiwi> I have a look and try to understand low level aolserver :)
IRC [06:00] <snutte> Im not sure that this is what you want but you can try it
IRC [06:00] <kiwi> in fact the idea is to check against a ldap server the host header name
IRC [06:01] <kiwi> and change the "docuement_root" into the directory
IRC [06:01] <snutte> im pretty new at aolserver to, but the modules are nice and easy to install
IRC [06:01] <kiwi> given by ldap
IRC [06:01] <kiwi> :)
IRC [06:01] <kiwi> ok so I'll have to learn aolserver as well
IRC [06:01] <snutte> yes^^
IRC [06:01] <kiwi> thanks for the pointer :)
IRC [06:02] <snutte> well, I think that you have to create a module for that functinality
IRC [06:13] *** tektubby parted the chat.
IRC [06:19] *** zione joined the chat.
IRC [06:21] <zione> hi, a quick one here, if anyone has any idea. (please don't ask me why am I asking it, seems we've got no alternatives...): cant aolserver run php with mysql support ? basically it is would aolserver run a phpnuke alongwith openacs ? would it do it if the whatever php-framework should support postgres ?
IRC [06:39] <kiwi> I think you can run php with mysql ...
IRC [06:40] <kiwi> I saw a doc here : http://panoptic.com/wiki/aolserver/1314
IRC [06:40] <kiwi> but I have not yet tested that
IRC [06:45] *** holycow joined the chat.
IRC [07:15] *** holycow parted the chat.
IRC [08:29] <zione> mmh, that seems ok, what about mysql... should be ok as a backend with no relation whatsoever with aolserver
IRC [08:44] <kiwi> I think it should be ok
IRC [08:58] <zione> and instead do you foresee any drawback should php be using postgres, while an openacs instance living within the same aolserver uses it as well ?
IRC [09:38] <kiwi> since php will use database drivers (eg libraries....) I don't think there will be conflicts between aolserver core usage of theses and php
IRC [09:47] <snutte> if the php engine is a cgi application then it will act as a separate process. It's like having two clients connected to the database.
IRC [10:46] <zione> ok, thanks, this seems to make sense... not efficient, but i can think to collapse some machines into one
IRC [11:11] <Dossy> Wow, new people!
IRC [11:11] <Dossy> :)
IRC [11:37] * frankie apache 0 - aolserver 1
IRC [11:37] <frankie> Dossy: :-)
