IRC [11:02] *** cacrus parted the chat.
IRC [11:10] <Dossy> hi, dekoy :)
IRC [11:13] <dekoy> hi Dossy
IRC [11:14] <dekoy> got that UTF8 thingy fixed
IRC [11:15] <Dossy> YAY! How?
IRC [11:19] <dekoy> key was NLS_LANG=.UTF8
IRC [11:19] <dekoy> yeah thats a . (dot) UTF8
IRC [11:19] <dekoy> hehe
IRC [11:20] <dekoy> might be a good addition to the wiki or something
IRC [11:20] <dekoy> so people can find it
IRC [11:23] <Dossy> Yeah.
IRC [11:23] <Dossy> it should really be something like en_US.UTF-8
IRC [11:23] <Dossy> er
IRC [11:23] <Dossy> en_US.UTF8
IRC [11:23] <Dossy> or whatever your locale is, but I guess you can leave the locale out and just do ".UTF8"
IRC [11:25] <dekoy> hehe :)
IRC [11:25] <Dossy> Well, that's fantastic news.
IRC [11:26] <dekoy> i got that from a post from 2004 he said it wont work until you set it to .UTF8
IRC [11:26] <Dossy> which post?
IRC [11:26] <Dossy> URL?
IRC [11:26] <dekoy> let me get the link
IRC [11:26] <Dossy> thanks.

IRC [11:26] <dekoy> ns_param  HackContentType    1

IRC [11:26] <dekoy> ns_param  HttpOpenCharset    utf-8
IRC [11:26] <dekoy> ns_param  OutputCharset      utf-8
IRC [11:26] <dekoy> ns_param  URLCharset        utf-8
IRC [11:26] <dekoy> Add this line to the AOLserver wrapper script to set your environment variable:
IRC [11:26] <dekoy> set NLS_LANG=.UTF8
IRC [11:27] <dekoy> any changes to ns_param wont work until you set the env variable for aolserver to .UTF8
IRC [11:29] *** holycow joined the chat.
IRC [11:29] <Dossy> dekoy, where are you located?
IRC [11:31] <dekoy> minnesota
IRC [11:32] <Dossy> ah! cool
IRC [11:32] <Dossy> you work on-site?
IRC [11:32] <Dossy> Would your folks be interested in an AOLserver Conference in 2008?
IRC [11:33] <dekoy> yeah i work on site
IRC [11:33] <dekoy> and an aolserver conference sounds good
IRC [11:33] <Dossy> I'm guessing airfare from St. Paul MN to Newark NJ isn't that expensive.
IRC [11:34] <dekoy> yaeh
IRC [11:34] <dekoy> how many days ?
IRC [11:34] <Dossy> how many tech people work with you on AOLserver?
IRC [11:34] <Dossy> 2, maybe 3.
IRC [11:34] <dekoy> 12 people
IRC [11:34] <Dossy> At least for the first conf :)
IRC [11:34] <dekoy> oh ill take that back
IRC [11:34] <dekoy> 14
IRC [11:34] <Dossy> 14 people? Wow.
IRC [11:34] <dekoy> including two people based on reno
IRC [11:34] <Dossy> How'd you manage to find *14* people in Minnesota of all places who'll work on AOLserver/Tcl? Heh.
IRC [11:35] <dekoy> hehe
IRC [11:35] <dekoy> most of them don't know squat about tcl but are programmers
IRC [11:35] <dekoy> tcl is _not_ that hard to learn if you know C already
IRC [11:35] <Dossy> OK. Are they writing Tcl for AOLserver, though?
IRC [11:35] <Dossy> *nod*
IRC [11:35] <Dossy> Tcl is remarkably easy to learn.
IRC [11:36] <dekoy> though we have one guy here who is a TCL guy escargo is his nick or what not
IRC [11:36] <Dossy> Ah, Dave
IRC [11:36] <dekoy> yeah they all write tcl code
IRC [11:36] <dekoy> yep
IRC [11:36] <Dossy> that's cool
IRC [11:36] <dekoy> joined the group last january
IRC [11:36] <Dossy> nice!
IRC [11:36] <Dossy> is he one of the people in Reno?
IRC [11:36] <dekoy> hehe want to hear the story why we are using aolserver ?
IRC [11:36] <Dossy> yes, definitely.
IRC [11:36] <dekoy> no he is in minnesota
IRC [11:37] <dekoy> our CTO (which is now in reno just moved 3 years ago originally from minnesota) i guess knows Phillip G
IRC [11:37] <dekoy> and convinced him to use aolserver
IRC [11:37] <dekoy> hahaha
IRC [11:38] <dekoy> :)
IRC [11:39] <Dossy> That's great.
IRC [11:39] <Dossy> Who's the CTO?
IRC [11:39] <dekoy> Paul Grady
IRC [11:40] <dekoy> well he's not the pgrady you will find in google :)
IRC [11:40] <dekoy> hehe
IRC [11:40] <Dossy> OK, heh
IRC [11:41] <dekoy> might google it and find those paul O grady and what not :)
IRC [11:41] <dekoy> where are you based ?
IRC [11:41] <Dossy> New Jersey.
IRC [11:42] <Dossy> you know, on your company's website ... there's no screenshots? :)
IRC [11:42] <dekoy> hahahah
IRC [11:42] <dekoy> we are medical based maybe thats why
IRC [11:42] <dekoy> hehe
IRC [11:43] <Dossy> Well, just an idea of what the screens look like, etc.
IRC [11:43] <dekoy> ahh :)
IRC [11:43] <Dossy> Guess I could call sales and ask for a demo.
IRC [11:43] <dekoy> :) yeah
IRC [11:43] <dekoy> we are the only aolserver based company on our field everybody is in the .net bandwagon
IRC [11:44] <dekoy> or apache/tomcat java
IRC [11:44] <dekoy> so it's fun :)
IRC [11:44] <Dossy> yeah! should make that a differentiating factor :)
IRC [11:44] <Dossy> "Our stuff works. Without having to upgrade the runtime platform every 30 days."
IRC [11:45] <Dossy> It's amazing the number of people running AOLserver 3.x ... stuff that's 5+ years old. :-)
IRC [11:45] <dekoy> hehe
IRC [11:45] <dekoy> i think we started with 3.x
IRC [11:45] <dekoy> they started this company with aolserver 5 years ago
IRC [11:46] <dekoy> i think when i started i moved it to 4.0.10 (can't remember now)
IRC [11:46] <Dossy> yeah.
IRC [11:47] <dekoy> just a q
IRC [11:47] <dekoy> you mention version 5.x
IRC [11:48] <dekoy> is it in the making ?
IRC [11:51] <Dossy> in theory, yeah :)
IRC [11:52] <Dossy> although I should really start formalizing the roadmap. I suck at this project leadership thing.
IRC [11:54] <dekoy> :)
IRC [11:56] <dekoy> and another question for you from what i read 4.5 is slower than 4.0.10 is that true ?
IRC [11:56] <dekoy> oh by the way thank you very much for the help
IRC [12:03] <dekoy> brb
IRC [13:06] <dekoy> Dossy is there any office site/url for the conference ?
IRC [13:28] <Dossy> dekoy: Not yet, it's still in the /very/ premature planning stages.
IRC [13:29] <Dossy> I wouldn't say 4.5 is "slower" than 4.0.10 ... although there's obviously going to be room for improvement in 4.5.
IRC [13:30] <dekoy> :)
IRC [13:31] <Dossy> There may be things that could use some more attention in 4.5, sure.
