IRC [17:46] <Dossy> hi, shedi -- did you get my email?
IRC [17:47] <shedi_> helo dossy, yes. a while ago i tried at home using win2k sp4 and win2k3 sp1 and there's seems to be no nsd.exe crash :-)
IRC [17:48] <shedi_> tomorrow i'll try again at work winxp sp2 machine.
IRC [17:48] <Dossy> oh
IRC [17:48] <Dossy> OK.
IRC [17:49] <shedi_> i'll send you the dr watson logs.
IRC [17:50] <shedi_> so it looks the installer works on winxp, win2k, and win2k3 without any trouble.
IRC [17:50] <shedi_> I also managed to install the nsd.exe as nt service without problems.
IRC [17:50] <Dossy> cool, thanks.
IRC [17:50] <Dossy> win2k sp2 ... wonder what the difference is between sp2 and sp3 ...
IRC [17:50] <Dossy> yea, it does work as an NT service, :)
IRC [17:52] <shedi_> on win2k sp4 it works. but on winxp sp2 it crashes.
IRC [17:53] <shedi_> it may also be something with my winxp system.
IRC [17:58] <Dossy> hmm
IRC [17:58] <Dossy> wait--I'm on WinXP SP2
IRC [17:58] <Dossy> works just fine for me. I'm guessing it's a DLL issue on your system.
IRC [18:00] <shedi_> I have winxp sp2 vm , i'm going to give it a try also.
IRC [18:01] <Dossy> ok
IRC [18:32] <shedi_> yes, for sure some dll trouble on my winxp machine. the vm works perfectly fine and no crashes when using nssqlite.
IRC [18:33] <shedi_> do you think the c runtime may be causing this?
IRC [18:43] <Dossy> not sure--getting the dr. watson log will help

IRC [21:12] <partymola> Hello everyone!
IRC [21:12] <partymola> i am having a funny time reading the e-mails at the mailing list lmao
IRC [21:13] <Dossy> hi, partymola :)
IRC [21:13] <Dossy> yeah. gotta watch out for those hard-coded magic constants
IRC [21:13] <partymola> ha ha
IRC [21:13] <partymola> oh, just a question
IRC [21:13] <partymola> who must I whip if aolserver crashes with a signal 11?
IRC [21:13] <partymola> who's the guilty man here? lol
IRC [21:14] <Dossy> depends on what caused it :)
IRC [21:14] <Dossy> got a backtrace or core dump?
IRC [21:14] <partymola> let me see
IRC [21:15] <partymola> no coredump
IRC [21:16] <Dossy> Hm.
IRC [21:16] <partymola> weird, weird
IRC [21:17] <partymola> i think it happens because it crashes when generating a graphic file using libgd
IRC [21:18] <partymola> i think i will launch the command as an external command, rather than as a proc inside aolserver
IRC [21:18] <partymola> ah, another question
IRC [21:19] <partymola> Dossy: does aolserver works fine on 64 bits?
IRC [21:19] <Dossy> For the most part, yeah. There may be places that aren't 64-bit clean, yet--I should really get myself a 64-bit box to test on. :-)
IRC [21:20] <partymola> oh, ok
IRC [21:20] <partymola> so i am not gonna run it 64 bits mode on a production server lol
IRC [21:20] <partymola> (in fact, the only 64 bits machine I have is the production server lol)
IRC [21:20] <partymola> 64 bits SMP... so crashes will happen for sure >_>
IRC [21:24] <Dossy> yeah...
