Tutorial for SFAR Applicant Add/Update. Speed tips. * Use tabs to go between fields * You can type while a dropdown-menu is selected (rather than using a mouse) * Hit Enter to submit a form. ! Main Menu * SSNs - You don't have to type the dashes * Search by Last Name - Ft. Drum is the only station that uses all caps, so you can easily distinguish our applicants in the search results. ! Add Applicant * AppRec: the date of the ERB ("BRIEF DATE" top left) or Volunteer Statement (top right).* RCT: Recruiter. Absolutely has to be our ID ("CLARK2 - Fort Drum") or else we will get locked out of the record and have to ask for a transfer.* RCT: Recruiter. Absolutely has to be our ID ("Fort Drum - ____") or else we will get locked out of the record and have to ask for a transfer. ---- * Name: In all upper-case (See above for why. You can just leave caps lock on the whole time). * Rank: The default is CSM, so you'll (probably) change it every time. ---- * Unit: Will be on the volunteer statement or the "Assignment Information" on Section IX of the ERB. ---- * State/Zip: Of the applicant's unit (Probably NY and 13603) * Duty/Home/Cell Phone: Be sure to get at least two phone numbers. There is a glitch (as of 2010) where only the first two fields (Duty and Home #s) print on the report. You'll probably want to use the Home blank for the Cell, so you can get ahold of guys when you are calling everyone on the report. ---- * Race: Section IV of ERB, under "Sex/Race" ---- * DEROS: Skip it. * Want: Read the Volunteer Statement's 1st preference. * Source: Doesn't matter, leave as-is. * FY: Current Year (At this point, either hit Enter (or click ^[Update Applicant^] if you want to do it the slow way) ! Second Page Click the ^[>^] button to go to the additional details page. * MOS: From ERB's top line, "PMOS" * RGR (Ranger), ABN (Airborne), and PLC (Primary Leader Course (WLC)): From Section VI of ERB, "Military Education". ---- * Security: True or False, from Section II of ERB, "PSI Status". * Education: Section VII of ERB, "Level Completed" (HSD = High School Diploma) * TIS: This one's weird. Take Section II of ERB, "BASD", in YYMM format. Just YYMM, nothing else. * TOS: Skip it. * Marital Status: Section IV of ERB. * No. Dep: Add adults + children from Section IV of ERB. ---- * dobYear: From Section IV of ERB. * Scores, these are different for SFAR and ERB. GT=GT, EL=ELEC, SC=COMMO ("Standard Commo"), CO=CMBT, FA=FA, ST=TECH ("Standard Technical") ---- * DLAB, PT, ...this whole line: Skip it. ---- * BCT: If their unit is in a BCT, put the number, otherwise, skip it. * BNCOC: From Section VI of ERB. * Citizen: This one's easy to overlook. It's probably a "T", and you can check by looking at Section IV of ERB under "Country of Citz" or "Birthplace". * EPSQ and TABE: Skip ---- * Re-enlist: Section III of ERB, under "Reenl Elig/Prohib", usually it's "10". Click ^[<^] (don't waste your time with ^[Update Applicant^]) ! Other Stuff Speed tip: Don't wait on the application on these screens. Just click your next pop-up while the previous is saving. * Physicals: Do "Add Physical" if they already have one. * Waviers: Don't mess with this if you're an OJT, let the recruiters do it. * Documents: You should always have the Volunteer Statement and ERB. Get the dates off of both (for the ERB it's the very top-left date, "BRIEF DATE"). ---- * Add Activity: Click once, pick the most recent date of any contact (usually the ERB or Vol. Statement), and then enter the line: "NEEDS PHYS/APFT/FI/OUTBRIEF (JC)" (Unless, of course, if they have a physical already then you don't have to enter it. FI = "Flight Itinerary"). ---- * SFAS School: "Add School". The only thing you need to do here is pick the SFAS Class. Which one you choose will depend on the person and circumstances. Click ^[Main Menu^] to go back to the start and Add/Update another Applicant.
