My first key is a whittled block of wood with a couple of wires and a piece of metal with a spring underneath. Very "expedient," in the most pejorative sense of the word, but it seems to work.
The momentary contact is just two blobs of solder that are filed down flat. Perhaps brass or some softer metal is a better choice to get a better connection?
